Looking inside Carla's Japandi dream house

We take a look at Carla's beautiful home in Zutphen, where she lives with her husband and youngest daughter. The interior reflects the Japandi style. On the account @huisbijdeijssel, Carla occasionally shares her love for cooking and baking, but since 2020, she mainly focuses on interior design. The combination of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian design form a peaceful base.

From house to cosy home

For six months now, the family has been living in their dream home. A spacious semi-detached house with beautiful views of the river IJssel. The 1980s house was in good condition, but could do with a facelift. A lot of renovation work was done. The walls were plastered and a brand new beige living kitchen was installed. After years of searching for the perfect house, the great enjoyment can begin!

I love something sweet with coffee or tea, so there is always a tin of biscuits or a bowl of chocolate on the table. It immediately creates that cosy, warm atmosphere I know from the old days.

Japandi living style

Carla decorated her interior in the Japandi style with a focus on natural elements. Inspired by the brown colour of the steel door, it was decided to add more darker accents. An exciting move; would the end result be as beautiful as she had imagined? In the end, with the addition of dark wooden tables and some brown accessories, the Japandi interior came fully to life.

Corner sofa Sommer

Through family, Carla got to know By SIDDE, and the brand has been a regular inspiration on Instagram ever since. While moving into their dream house, they started looking for a bright sofa with plenty of seating space. It soon became clear that corner sofa Sommer in the colour Oat Beige was the perfect choice. The light hue of the corner sofa fits perfectly in the living room, which often looks a bit darker due to the limited amount of light, making the seating unit stand out beautifully in the Japandi interior.

Tips from Carla

In a smaller living room, dare to place a large (corner) sofa as an eye-catcher; this creates more peace and balance than a collection of small pieces of furniture. Do you doubt your furniture will fit well in your dream home? Then use newspapers or tape on the floor to measure out the dimensions. That way, you can confidently create beautiful furnishings that offer both cosiness and harmony.
